Lunch with Gussie.

Once a month MJ takes off for lunch with her mom's best friend Roberta (Grandma Berta to my kids) and her grade school Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Augusta Feehan (Gussie). Last month I got to go and I quickly snapped a shot of the three of them. Gussie, on the left, is 105 and Berta, in the wheelchair, is 96.

We both love and adore them... such a blessing to our lives. Especially Roberta who has been like my Grandma since I was born.

Again, it's nice to work for a family business where you can take a few hours out of your work week to encourage relationships with such incredible women.

Cookie baking day.

Oh the joys of a family business! Makes it super easy to take a day off work and bake Christmas cookies!

We took the kids out of school (it's easy when the oldest is in first grade!) and had a great day baking! Of course PawPaw had to keep the business running but us girls had a blast keeping up a tradition that started when I was a little girl!

Saying goodbye to a good friend.

Last week I went with my dad to the STL airport to say goodbye to Stephen and Lillian Dokolo. Stephen was here a few years ago as a seminary student and our family got to know him while he attended our church. He and Rick bonded quickly because of Rick's trip to his town of Lui in Southern Sudan (they knew people in common and had lots to talk about!) and ended up dear friends. Stephen was here for a few years and then went home where he became the current Episcopal Bishop of the Discese of Lui in Southern Sudan. He and his beautiful wife, Lillian, got to come back here a few weeks ago for a visit and it was so amazing to see him again and to meet Lillian!

A group of people met to wish them well and pray for their long journey back home...

It was sad to say goodbye but so amazing to know what a blessing they are to the chuches in Lui!
